Op-Ed notes: adopt agile

My first-ever Op-Ed "As New Variants Rise, the CDC Must Work More Like Silicon Valley" was published yesterday on KevinMD. Here I argue that we must teach the next generation applied scientists not only how to research, but also how to act like tech starts ups,  swiftly scaling life-saving innovations.

I came to this way of thinking from a career in local public health before becoming a federal scientist. Others have validated this painful public health knowledge gap between what actually happens (locally) and siloed, decontextualized decision-making (federally).

Dynamic agile is an operating system, approach, framework, and set of tools. Just like a carpenter, which tools you use, depends on your industry. Agile commonality themes includes end-users, failing fast and often, and an egalitarian work culture.
